Though he held the lead before the late games started, Kansas City Chiefs LB Tamba Hali did not win the NFL sack crown as Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware beat him out by one take down. Hali finished the regular season with a 2.5 sack performance that impressed Raiders QB Jason Campbell.
“Out of all the guys we’ve faced this year, he’s got to be one of the top three on the defensive side of the ball,” Campbell said. “The guy plays extremely hard, and he’s the guy you’ve always got to know where he’s at on the field. He should be going to the Pro Bowl. There’s no reason he shouldn’t be.”
Hali has 41 1/2 career sacks, good for seventh place in Chiefs history.
You can bet that Hali will continue to take out his Pro Bowl snub on opposing quarterbacks throughout the playoffs starting with Baltimore’s Joe Flacco. The Ravens left tackle Michael Oher will be looking to prove his own worth after a snub of his own, but he’ll have to do it on a sprained knee and twisted ankle against a healthy Hali.
If there is one matchup to watch closely on Sunday it is how well the Ravens protect Flacco’s blind side (pun intended).
