The Houston Texans recently worked out two former Chiefs kickers, according to Scout.com.
Ks Justin Medlock and Dave Rayner are believed to have worked out for the team last week.
It shouldn’t come to a surprise that the Texans took at look at those two kickers considering veteran K Kris Brown is coming off of his worst season statistically. Brown hit on just 21 out of 32 field goal attempts (65.6 percent) in 2009.
Medlock, a fifth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2007 draft, played in the CFL in 2009. Rayner, a sixth-round pick out of the 2005 draft by the Indianapolis Colts, spent time before the 2009 season began with the Washington Redskins.
I wonder how odd it must be for Rayner and Medlock to cross paths. If you’ll remember, Rayner was brought in to replace the struggling Medlock back in September of 2007.
The Texans are the 9th NFL team for Rayner and 3rd for Medlock.
After seeing both struggle during their short time in Kansas City, I can’t figure the Texans will find much solace in either Rayner or Medlock.
