If people have doubts about the Kansas City Chiefs being able to bounce back from their embarrassing 31-3 loss to the Miami Dolphins, they aren’t oddsmakers in Las Vegas. For just the third time this season, the Chiefs find themselves favored in a game, this time over the Denver Broncos.
Todd Haley’s squad is currently 3.5 point favorites over lightning rod QB Tim Tebow and the Broncos Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead.
The Chiefs had been underdogs for six straight games before last week’s game against the previously winless Dolphins thanks in large part to a big win over the San Diego Chargers the week before.
If Kansas City plans on handling the role as favorite better this time around, they will have to shake off one of the worst losses in the Todd Haley era. Being an opponent’s first victory nine weeks into a season is never easy to take, but to have it be a blowout at home a week after jumping into first place?
Luckily for the home team, the big story on Sunday won’t be their epic loss to the Dolphins. They can thank the man playing under center for the Broncos, Tim Tebow. The polarizing quarterback has been the talk of the NFL since taking over for starter Kyle Orton late in a game against the Chargers. Despite his troubles as a passer, Tebow has led the Broncos to a 2-1 record as a starter and with a win in Kansas City could bring his team into a first-place tie.
For the Chiefs to have a realistic shot at winning the AFC West, they can’t afford to fall to the Broncos with matchups against the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Green Bay Packers on tap over the next five weeks.
