During his press conference today in Kansas City, Todd Haley made sure to address the post game non-handshake with Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels.
“I do want to apologize for me not shaking Josh’s hand after the game. I do believe in doing what’s right and that was not right. I probably let emotions of the situation get me too much. I apologize and I apologize to the fans and to Denver and to Josh.”
Haley said, however, that he would not be calling McDaniels directly to apologize, which brings me to ask: Wouldn’t that be doing what’s right?
In my mind, the honorable thing would have been to call Denver this morning, have a chat with McDaniels and give a short statement about having a private conversation and putting it in the pass. Instead, Haley has decided the best avenue is to address it only in his press conference seemingly because the story has been gaining momentum nation wide all day long.
It looks a lot like Haley did as little as he felt he could get away with.
