According to FOX 4 Sports, Chiefs No. 1 draft pick DE Tyson Jackson is on his way to River Falls, Wisconsin.
Jackson boarded a plane at 6 a.m. Friday morning en route to the Chiefs training camp to sign his contract.
610 Sports Radio is reporting the contract is a 5-year deal worth $57 million with $31 million guaranteed.
The deal makes the All-American defensive end from LSU one of the highest paid defensive ends in the NFL.
Those are some big numbers, but not surprising since OT Jason Smith, selected No. 2 overall, got $33 guaranteed from the St. Louis Rams. I’m beyond interested to see how this unfolds. Does he sign, do the conditioning test and then practice if he passes? Or does he sign and spend afternoon working out and give the conditioning test tomorrow? Either way, it’s good to finally have this done!
