The Kansas City Chiefs head into Indianapolis to take on the Colts as the only undefeated team left in the NFL. Their record isn’t buying them much respect in Vegas as they have opened the week as big underdogs.
Across the board, the Colts are 8 point favorites even after dropping to 2-2 on Sunday thanks to a last second field goal in Jacksonville.
No one expected to see the Chiefs be favored, not against the high-powered Colts at home, but earlier today I said the line should open around 6 and maybe climb as the week went along. Now it would appear we could be looking at 8.5 or 9 point spread by the time kickoff in Indianapolis comes around.
Usually when a team is 3-0 both straight up and against the spread, they would garner a little more respect. Though the naysayers will all point to the 3-9 combined record of the Chiefs first three opponents.
The Colts need a win about as bad as anyone right now as they could be facing a three game deficit within the division. That, along with the uncertainty of just how “real” the Chiefs are, is enough for the odds makers to hand the visitors more than a touchdown head start.
