What is Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel doing this offseason? Oh, not much, just helping to save lives.
According to KMBC, after Cassel’s wife spotted a house on fire in their Cass County gated community, Matt ran over and was seen pounding on the door, ringing the doorbell and circling the house until the woman inside got out. Per the report, the woman was home alone and had no idea the house was on fire.
Another person in the neighborhood said the Chiefs quarterback doesn’t want any attention but feels he deserves it.
“I definitely think he was a hero last night.”
Cassel, through his neighbor, downplayed his actions in the report.
“I just ran up to the house and alerted them. The real heroes are the firefighters.”
We can all agree with Cassel the firefighters that put out the blaze are heroes, but he and his wife deserve plenty of credit. The way house fires can spread, every second counts and the Cassels gave their neighbor an invaluable warning.
Matt Cassel: quarterback and hero.
