After performing “America The Beautiful” at the US Open in Queens, NY, Kansas City native and Chiefs fan David Cook was ready to catch a flight back home to catch the game. Cook reported via Twitter that the weather didn’t cooperate.
Damn rain comes 5 minutes after we board, and now, out on the runway, they shut down all departures… Well, I tried, Chiefs. Give ’em hell
The former American Idol champ has performed at Arrowhead twice and is a legit Chiefs fan, even spending his birthday at a game last year. His performance at the Open was originally scheduled for Sunday, but the weather pushed the final — and his performance — to this afternoon. So the weather got in the way of helping Cook christen The New Arrowhead twice in as many days.
Here’s to hoping that Cook will get back to Kansas City sometime after he finishes his sophomore album to sign the anthem a third time.
Apparently David Cook was determined to see the game. He hit up his Twitter account again later tonight.
Ok, made it home! Gonna go get rained on and watch a KC win!
The Chiefs seemed to turn things around shortly after Cook’s tweet. Maybe he’s a good luck charm?
