The first round of the 2010 NFL Draft has come and gone with one very surprising name still available: Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Clausen’s former coach will be working overtime to bring Clausen to Kansas City.
Chiefs OC Charlie Weis is going to spend tonight trying to convince the Chiefs to draft Jimmy Clausen in the second round.
No, no, no, no.
Pioli had a great first round with Eric Berry and with all of the ready-to-play talent still available he has a chance to add two more starters tomorrow night. I understand that Weis feels Clausen can be a successful NFL quarterback but the Chiefs have huge holes to fill before they worry about trying to find a player to push Matt Cassel for the starting quarterback spot.
If anything, Clausen’s fall could help Pioli fall back a few spots in the draft. If the former Notre Dame star is still on the board along with Colt McCoy, there’s a good chance a team will try to jump up and have their choice of quarterbacks.
