Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Will Franklin was among several players that worked out for the New England Patriots yesterday.
On the same day that the New England Patriots listed wide receiver Randy Moss as questionable with a back injury, the AFC East club tried out several wide receivers.
That included former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Chris Davis, former Carolina Panthers kick returner Larry Beavers as well as Anthony Armstrong, Courtney Taylor and William Franklin.
The Patriots also tried out Oakland Raiders castoff defensive tackle Terdell Sands.
Franklin, a 2008 fourth-round pick by the Chiefs, spent last season with Kansas City and had seven catches for 83 yards in 13 games, including one start. He was cut by the Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders before the end of trainign camp.
Franklin sure is giving it the old college try. It’s hard to imagine he catches on with New England, no matter how many injuries they have. If the kids can’t stick with the Lions or Raiders, can there really be any hope for him with the Patriots?
Back when the Chiefs first cut him there were five teams that put claims in on him, so there is obviously something about Franklin that teams like. But the fact he keeps getting cut has to tell you something even more important about him.
