Zach Thomas To Retire (Or Not)

As the Chiefs prepare to get their roster down to the 75 player limit tomorrow afternoon, there is one less cut that needs ZachThomas6to be made, according to ESPN’s Adam Shefter.

Bruschi exited today, Zach Thomas next. He won’t play again for Chiefs and, barring unforseen, is finished in NFL. End for 1 more great LB.

Thomas signed with the Chiefs in order to help the team transition to the 3-4 defense.  He played last season for the Cowboys, recording 94 tackles while playing in all 16 games.

It’s a shame that Thomas’ body won’t let him play for one more season.  Any time he spoke this offseason, it was clear he still had plenty of desire to play the game.

Zach Thomas was the definition of a professional of the field and I’ll miss watching him play the game.

UPDATE:

Thomas’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus took to Twitter and claimed his client still very much plans on being an active NFL player.

Zach Thomas is not retiring.  He is progressing from his injury & he fully expects to have a great season with the Chiefs in 09.

I. Have. No. Idea.

After today, I think my head might explode.
